Dr. Sharmeen Shroff is a Registered Hong Kong Psychologist who has years of experience training and working in the United Kingdom and the USA. She is one of the few clinical psychologists in Hong Kong that have been intensively trained to practice psychotherapy from a psychodynamic depth perspective.
Dr. Shroff uses her training in psychodynamic psychotherapy and combines it with a more practical hands on approach to give clients the best of both worlds. As a psychologist, Dr. Shroff utilizes a combination of directive and non-directive therapy techniques, giving clients the skills they need to improve their lifestyle while allowing them space for their own growth and development.
Dr. Shroff has been fortunate enough to be raised in Hong Kong and study in both the United Kingdom and the USA, providing her with the invaluable experience of working within a diverse environment and amongst a variety of cultures. Her own experiences of being an immigrant in other countries have helped crystallize her desire to work with multi-cultural populations by utilizing depth therapy.
Dr. Shroff has worked for many years in hospitals, community mental health centers, medical clinics, and school settings (inpatient and outpatient). Dr. Shroff previously worked as an associate professor at City University, Hong Kong where she supervised and taught doctoral level Psychology students. She was also a service advisor providing pro-bono therapy to refugee and asylum seekers at Christian Action, Hong Kong and was previously SassyMama’s expert psychologist.
Dr. Shroff has now set up her own practice, Central Minds Ltd, where she works as a Director and Clinical Psychologist. Dr. Shroff also works part time with the London Medical Clinic.
Dr. Shroff is a professional member of the Division of Clinical Psychologists of the Hong Kong Psychological Society, The American Psychological Society and The Northern California Society for Psychoanalytic Psychology.
